The Sheyenne Expansion Project is intended to increase natural gas delivery volumes through Williston Basin Interstate Pipeline Company’s system to locations east of Bismarck, N.D. Counties in which the facilities will be either modified or constructed include Burleigh, Kidder, Stutsman and Cass.
Total project cost is approximately $7.5 million and includes:
- Modifying and adding more horsepower to an existing compressor station at Bismarck, N.D.
- The construction and operation of a new compressor station facility to be located approximately one mile north of Steele, N.D.
- Valve modifications at and near an existing compressor station located near Cleveland, N.D.
- Construction of slightly over one mile of pipeline to connect the company’s existing 8-inch pipeline to serve the Tharaldson Ethanol Plant under construction near Casselton, N.D.
Firm transportation delivery volumes to the company’s pipeline system east of Bismarck will be increased by 9,650 thousand cubic feet per day (MCFD) from existing volumes of 35,709 MCFD. This represents a delivery volume increase to this segment of the pipeline of approximately 27 percent. Total system-wide pipeline delivery volumes average approximately 655,000 MCFD meaning that the Sheyenne Expansion Project will increase total pipeline system delivery volumes by 1.5 percent.
